Hypothetically Speaking

Just having some fun today.......

If I were friends with a group of women in Hollywood, these ladies would be my girlfriends:

Kelly Ripa

She comes across as being so down to earth. She is SO witty {I love it!}, and she seems to balance career, family, fun and friendships so well. She doesn't take herself too seriously. She loves the island of Capri, so she would be my traveling buddy to Italy : )

Julia Roberts

So poised. So sure of who she is. Her family appears to be her top priority {they all pack up and go with her when she needs to be away shooting a movie}. She thinks before she speaks - and she isn't afraid to speak her mind. She's caring and passionate for certain causes. She seems to be a very loyal friend.

Drew Barrymore

She would keep me laughing until my ribs hurt! She's the friend that will come over in the middle of the night if you need her to, will help you eat a gallon of ice-cream while watching reality tv, and will be on your side if you've had a fight with your boyfriend {but then when the two of you make up, she will say how sweet he is!}. She seems like the kind of friend who would be spontaneous right along with you! She's extremely smart, speaks so eloquently, has so many life lessons to share and appears to be extremely honest and vulnerable.

Sherry Shepherd

She seems up for anything! She would be the friend who could easily get you out of a bad mood. She would be the friend who would be there to give you a pep talk should you need one. She is independent. She doesn't need to be the center of attention, but she knows her place. She has a serious side and a funny side, and is very outgoing. She seems like the kind of person that if you ask her how her day is going, she is going to really tell you. She appears to wear her emotions on her sleeves, and seems to be so relatable.

Rebecca Romijn

She seems like a breath of fresh air. She will share her perspective, but not try to persuade anyone to agree with it. She appears to have a fun marriage and dotes on her two twin daughters. She isn't afraid to go out in public without make-up on or be seen in the grocery store wearing her husband's shirt or her favorite pair of jeans that she's worn nearly every day that week. She's more often seen in the park with her girls, and having family outings versus unloading obscene amounts of money while shopping on Rodeo Drive. She is the friend that you would want to take to any social gathering. She will make the night super fun!

Diane Keaton

This one is probably a surprise! Ha ha! Why the heck would I want Diane Keaton in my circle, you ask? I just love her. She makes that saying, "age is nothing but a number" so true. I would be fully engaged hearing her stories, and she seems to live her life with no regret. She seems to always have a smile on her face, and people speak so highly of her. On a personal note, I have loved connecting with older women - they deposit so much into you.

Obviously I don't actually "know" any of the above women. They could be completely opposite of everything that I've written. My positive opinions about them come from seeing so many interviews that they've done, and watching the profiles done about them on tv, seeing them appear as guests on talk shows and late night shows, etc. and in the case of Kelly Ripa and Sherry Shepherd, watching them live over the years. There are lots of other women in Hollywood that would be fun to have around my table but these would probably be my top gals.

Who would your circle of women be?! Share!

A Little Reminder That We All Sometimes Need

Last week I came across this picture in Homegoods and I snapped a photo of it on my cell phone. I just loved the saying. It really doesn't require me to expound on it; the few words say it all:

Taking Time For Me - Why Is It So Hard To Do?

A few nights ago, I slept wrong and woke up the next morning barely able to turn my neck to the left. I could feel painful knots in my shoulders and in my back {and then there's the lingering one that is always on my left side because every time I pick Ilah up, I place her on my left hip}. I remembered that about a month ago we each purchased a deal on Deal Swarm, for one chiropractic exam and adjustment, plus a 60 minute deep-tissue massage {we got the deal for just $29; a $139 value}. Now was the perfect time to use it. I scheduled my appointment yesterday evening and I go this afternoon.

Coincidently, yesterday a friend told me that I should take some time to pamper myself. But in all honesty, had I not had that coupon I wouldn't be going for an adjustment and a massage today. Why? Because I put myself on the back burner. And because I'm very conscious about how I spend our money.

Elaborating...

We're fortunate that my husband makes a very good income as a Senior Software Engineer. I feel extremely blessed that I am able to be a stay at home mom - and even though we are a one income family, not only are our needs met, but we can also acquire our wants, while also putting away a good amount of money into our savings account every month. Yet even though money is not a factor, I am always hesitating to do even the smallest of things for myself...because I always have our short-term, and long-term, goals in mind - and every little bit adds up.

In the winter I thought about occasionally going to a tanning salon but the cost kept me from following through. I'd love to spruce up my wardrobe and replace my drab duds with more cutesy ones but I get distracted and venture to the children's department and get darling clothes for Ilah instead. I've thought about cutting my hair and getting it colored for summer but I just can't swallow the few hundred dollars that it would cost. My pedicures are months apart {I just end up doing them myself}. And even though a monthly massage seems well deserved, I just don't treat myself to it because of the cost.

I think about the new couches that I'd like for our home, the amazing [out of the country] vacation that we're looking forward to going on, the large down payment that we're planning to put down on our next home, the future cost of private tuition {it will be here before you know it}...and the forever goal of continuing to grow our savings account substantially. I'd rather put the few hundred dollars that I would be using on myself every month towards any of the above things because I feel they are more important.

I know that I am not the only wife and mother who thinks like this and puts their families overall needs before their own. And I also know that there are woman who do put their needs first, because they feel that it's extremely important to do so, even if it means sacrificing in other areas. And that's great too. But that's just not me. It doesn't make me better; it's just my own outlook and personal decision. Every household puts their money toward what they feel it should be purposed for.

Will a haircut and color {$200}, new clothes {$200}, bi-weekly manicures/pedicures {$70}, monthly massages {$80} and a weekly visit to the tanning salon {$35 x 4} remarkably refresh me? Add up those costs and the total comes to $690, tips not included. And at the end of the day, the hair will continue to be put up while the cleaning gets done, new clothes become old clothes soon after the tags come off, the pedicure and manicure doesn't last, the massage feels great in the moment and once it's over - well, it's over, and the tan that you will get from the salon will start to fade in a few weeks time. Personal pampering can be a costly thing, especially if all of those things are done collectively. I do realize that not all of them have to be done at once, or even as often, but it's still a cost when it's all said and done. I'm not at all knocking any woman who chooses to do these things {we all have our own relaxing outlets...mine is an inexpensive bubble bath, in which I use Eucalyptus Spearmint from Bath & Bodyworks}. Do I need - and deserve - more just than just a half hour in the tub with a magazine? Maybe so. But even with my husband encouraging me to treat myself to nice things, the hesitation on my part is always there - and ultimately, just a nice dinner out suffices.

There will be times, like today, when a few hours away to get a massage {with a deal in hand}, will be so, so nice. As will the occasional trip away with girlfriends. And the manicure/pedicure that I decide to get on a whim. Ultimately it's the alone time to decompress that is most important...a trip to Barnes & Noble to skim through books, an hour alone at Starbucks {or anywhere else}, a stroll through the mall without tiny hands grabbing at things. I'm a rather simple girl, who {yes, puts money into making her home nice and loves impromptu lunch dates and dinner dates}, mindfully chooses to forgo all the costly extras that she could put into herself. I believe in everything in moderation, not in excess. And that the things that make me feel good about myself are found in my actions, not in things that can be purchased with cash, debit, or credit.

Are You Open to Anyone Other Than You Correcting Your Child?

This week while I was in a department store, I saw a young boy running around chasing who appeared to be his younger brother. One of the women who worked in the store {who was probably close to 50 years old} told the boys "No running in the store". The mother was flabbergasted, and highly offended, that someone other then herself brought correction to her boys. She came up behind me in line, looked over at the store clerk, and very loudly said, "What the hell!? No running in the store!? Bullsh*t". She fixated her eyes on the stores employee almost daring her to make eye contact back.

It made me think.

My child, who is just shy of 11 months old, clearly isn't at the age just yet to be disciplined. But when she is old enough to be corrected, would I mind someone else intervening if I wasn't at her side to correct her bad behavior?

I grew up in a generation where you borrowed sugar from your neighbor if you ran out. If you locked your keys in your car, they invited you into their home, where you would warmly wait, until the tow truck showed up. Where people looked out for one another's children and never thought twice about it. Whether that be handing them a dollar to get an ice-cream off of the ice-cream truck, running out with a band-aid if you saw a child take a spill off of his bike, or bringing about verbal {not physical} correction to a child for whatever reason deemed necessary. People actually appreciated all of the above.

Fast forward to today and it seems to me that many parents now a days don't seem to care how unruly their child is....no one is to discipline their child but them.

I am not for my child/ren getting yelled at by a stranger. Nor threatened. And if anyone touched by child...well...Jesus be a fence! But people who have good intentions {and speak in a mild-mannered voice}, and especially people that are familiar with my child, and are close to us, I would not at all be opposed to them bringing about verbal correction to my child. The same way that if there was an adult nearby and saw that my child was potentially in danger of getting hurt - adult intervention is just necessary sometimes. No matter how much we think we have our eyes fixated on our little ones all the time, there are going to be times that things go unseen.

The same can also be said about praising/complimenting/encouraging a child. Many people can potentially add to your child's self-esteem - who wouldn't invite that in to their child's life? Additional words of affirmation from outside influences, other than yourself, is something that I would think any parent would delight in.

So does it take an entire village to raise a child? Or just a few good hearted people? I'm not sure of the answer. But I wish that I was back to living in the generation where people were receptive to the sense of community that once existed.

A Whole Lot of Randomness

  • First and foremost, I am SO touched by all of the comments that I received on this post about why you have become a reader of my blog. The responses REALLY touched me and I sincerely thank all of you who took the time to write to me to let me know in one way or another how this blog of mine has inspired you, impacted you, or has just simply given you something to look forward to reading when you get the chance. I wish I could have all of you over for a super big "meet and greet" - not the stuffy un-social kind! No, no. One in which we create a lively atmosphere while engaging in some good home cooked food {and desserts too!}, lots of laughs fill the air, lots of stories are exchanged, "cheers" are being made across the table, and we all leave having new connections with wonderful people that we look forward to sharing our time with once again. Doesn't that sound great!?
  • Last week Ilah started walking!! And by walking, I mean....her first few steps were cute, we all clapped, mommy got teary-eyed and we predicted that it would still take her a few more weeks {if not maybe a month} to really get the hang of it and really start walking for long periods of time. Well, Ilah is on the go! - walking from one end of the room to the other. She is doing so many new things now!! Her 10 month post is going to be full of lots of new milestones that she seems to be hitting very early. She is quite the active, funny, precious little girl! We can't get enough of her!!
  • This week I went out in public in saggy butt pants {come on, you know what those are! Dare you admit that you've worn a pair in public too? You know...the kind of pants that have become a bit too stretched out to the point where they don't hug your butt like they used to. Hence, "saggy butt" pants}. I normally just wear this particular pair around the house {'cause an elastic waist band is my BFF} but I wanted to make a quick trip to JoAnne's Fabric to buy some more fabric to make hairbows, so I just threw on the saggy butt pants, without really thinking, and put on a baseball cap - sans makeup - and with Ilah in tow, headed out. Wouldn't it be my luck that I was spotted {for the very first time} by a fellow blogger!! I returned home and had an email from a sweet woman who lives near me telling me that she thought she saw me at JoAnne's! She was leaving as I was coming in. Had she had gotten a good close up, she would have seen that my eyebrows are long overdue for a waxing/plucking! Anyhow, we are meeting up next week for lunch and hopefully getting our little ones together for a play date soon {Hi Kimberly!}.
  • I've been asked quite a few times if I would share pictures of our home. I do many posts on home decor {man would I love to bring some of those images to life!} and while I have given glimpses here and there of some spaces in our home, I haven't done a home tour. I always love to have a peek inside of someone's real home {I just love visiting model homes too!} and I just love it when other bloggers open their doors for their readers and I get to see inside. So I'll be doing the same starting next week!!
  • My new, November 2010, issue of Better Homes and Gardens magazine came in the mail this week and it's oh so lovely! This magazine is one of my favorites because it covers so many topics and has very few advertisements, which means the pages are filled with substantial content! Everything from recipes, to home decor, to tips and how-to's, to a plethora of swoon worthy ideas....I love this mag. And with Thankgiving, like, three seconds away, this November issue is PACKED with fabulous ideas!! If you will be hosting Thanksgiving at your house this year, get this issue!! I can't count how many pages I have doggy-eared.
  • I ordered Thanksgiving cards to send out to our family & friends; they arrived last week and Ilah looks so adorable on them! They will be addressed, stamped and mailed off next week. Of course, I will be sharing them with you!

Enjoy your Friday and have a great weekend!!

Why Do You Read This Blog?

I wasn't sure if I was going to continue blogging after I had Ilah. In fact, I even proclaimed in one post that this blog would likely be coming to an end shortly after she was born. But here I am. Still here. And still blogging away.

While many bloggers say that they blog to document their life, my reason extends past that. As my profile says, in part: "...This blog houses my thoughts, highlights things that enthuse me, and showcases images that wow me. I live life to its fullest, have a heart for the things of God, am passionate about traveling the globe, take delight in yummy food, and love a good deep laugh...".

Through my blog, I love sharing all of the above things {everything from my faith, to motherhood experiences, to recipes, to lovely home decor images, to random musings - there are many of those!}. I don't aim to be a popular blogger. I don't sit and think about how to draw in the masses. I don't pay attention to my blogger stats like so many other bloggers do nor do I obsess about my ranking on third party sites. Instead, I sit happily and contently on my [very] small block of the blogging world and enjoy writing away when the urge hits me. And when I hear from those of you who choose to pop by it lets me know that you find my little 'ol blog to be an inviting place. In fact, when I get emails from my readers letting me know how much a certain post really touched them, it's what makes me want to continue to keep this blog around all the more. Because even if I've touched just one person in a positive way, than this blog has served its ultimate purpose.

The blogging community has become a very BIG place. Many people make their rounds and read a significant number of blogs per day. The most I have followed has maybe been five. I know what it's like to invest a bit of your time into certain bloggers and peer into their virtual window and keep up with their life story as it plays out daily/weekly/monthly/yearly. But I don't know how people follow so many blogs! I would get so tired from all that reading! Ha ha!

Some of you are long time readers of my blog, and some of you are fairly new. Some of you comment regularly, some of you comment sporadically, and some of you are closet readers and don't comment at all {I really found that out when I put up a poll about 6 months ago and over 900 individual people answered it. Wow!}. Some of you type in my blog address daily, and some of you just pass through occasionally. Whichever the case may be.....

I'm curious....and would really like to know....

Why do you read this blog? What keeps you coming back?
And is there something that you'd like for me to write more about?

This is my 733rd post. I can't believe I have written that many blog entries. It's certainly been a fun few years using this blog of mine as an outlet for so many various things. I look forward to connecting with you all the more : )

A Root Canal That Was Anything But Fun

I had a root canal done yesterday morning and it laid me out! I'm used to the process as I've had two root canals prior to this one. But this third one was a doozy! It took about a half an hour, and more than 20 injections, to get me numb. It was a 2 hr procedure that was anything but fun. As I sat there, I kept thinking that I was undergoing a form of torture. Ha!

In the past I have rebounded just fine from having a root canal but this time around I actually had to fill my prescription because the pain afterwards was just so bad. The medication however has put me in a fog and has made me soooo nauseous. After taking 2 pills yesterday, as prescribed, I still feel the awful side effects of them today {nearly 20 hrs later} so I have decided to ditch taking them because I hate how they make me feel {light headed, loopy, nauseous, hot, dizzy}; I'd rather just tolerate the pulsating pain from my root canal than take any more of those Hydrocodone pills. Thank goodness my mom lives so close - she came over earlier today to watch Ilah while I spent some time in bed to try and sleep off the pain and the awful feeling that the med's left on my system. I hope to be back to my normal self soon! Because tomorrow is Saturday and I'm all about getting out : )

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

My Roots Needed Rescuing

One by one...and then what seemed like five by five....gray hairs started sprouting from my roots. When I would see them wiggle their way into the visible realm, I would pick them right on out {yes, I know....not the best method if it's true that when you pluck out gray hairs, double the amount will show face again}.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with gray hair. In fact, I have seen some gorgeous gray hairstyles on women. I just don't think I'm ready to go that route for another 20 years. And so for that very reason, I applied this to my roots last night....

Yep. No shame. I rescued my roots.

I had no idea if dying my roots would work. I tried to dye my hair light brown when I was in college and the dye didn't take. Thinking that maybe I needed to go even a shade lighter, I went back to the store and bought another bottle. I applied it according to the instructions, and once again....it didn't take. Dare I say that I went back to the store again and bought a color that was nearly blonde {surely this had to work} - but nope, my hair color didn't chang even a smidgen. It was evident at that point that I needed to have my hair stripped in order for my hair to be dyed. And going that route didn't sit well with me. Needless to say, as many times as I have toyed with the idea of changing my hair color, it has always remained soft black.

The Loreal Root Rescue worked great. It was super easy. And my hair turned out as I had hoped. Adios gray hairs! In the same aisle, I also saw Clairol Root Touch-Up; I have two coupons that pretty much gives me one box for free so maybe I'll try this one out next time and see which one I like better.
With my gray hairs now gone, my husband will no longer be peering over me desperately wanting to take a hold of a gray hair and yank it from my head! He will have to wait at least another few months to do that again!

Sex & The City 2 - Carrie & Big's AMAZING Apartment!

Over the weekend I went to the theatre and saw Sex & The City 2! Since it was opening weekend and many of you may not have seen it just yet, I won't post my opinion about the movie or give anything away. But I do want to highlight photos of Big and Carrie's ultra chic, yet oh-so-comfy, apartment, which made me wish I could spend at least one weekend in it!!

*Don't scroll down if you've rather be suprised and want to wait to see the movie to see what the apartment looks like*.

Everything about this entry way is divine. That light fixture {gasp!!}

The wallpaper that you see in the entry way in the above picture can be seen more clearly in the below photo, which also gives you a better look at the space.....

And here we see Big and Carrie's livingroom. In all its subtle beauty....

The pairing of the colors: blue, gold, grey, brown....gorg! And the two-tone colors painted on the walls. Love it. Also interesting that the accent pieces on the coffee table are a variety of books. Love that look!....
And I just swoon over this little sitting area!...
Onto the diningroom. That lighting fixture above the table is so unique. At first glance you wouldn't think it would go with the chicness of the dining room chairs but it blends in nicely and compliments the furniture in other space of the apartment so beautifully....

Check out the backsplash tile. A punch of color used in the kitchen.....

Onto the bedroom. Lots of different fabrics, patterns and textures used throughout the space, yet they all compliment one another and blend together so well.....

Brace yourself for the His & Her closet space.....

I love how the left side is done in wood to reprisent masculinity while the right side is done in all white to reflect femininity.

And look at how the shoes are showcased! I'm drooling!!

Sandra Bullock Adopts!

Regis & Kelly happened to be on my tv this morning when I heard the news that Sandra Bullock adopted a beautiful baby boy. Check out this sweet photo!....

Bullock has given an interview to PEOPLE magazine where she shares that she has filed for divorce from her husband, Jesse James, revealing that she had no idea about his infidelity and that the adoption process {for baby boy Louis Bardo Bullock} started four years ago. James and Bullock actually brought the baby home together back in January but wanted to keep the adoption under wraps until the Oscars passed. Bullock is now finalizing the adoption, and now plans to raise the adorable baby above {born in New Orleans}, as a single parent.

On a side note: Adopting little Louis seems to mirror her role as Leigh Anne Tuohy in The Blind Side. Interesting life and art intersection.

What a bitter sweet moment for Sandra. I think she's a beautiful person and will be an exceptional mother.

Exclusive photos of the star and her baby boy will be in the new issue of PEOPLE on newstands Friday.

Did She Think Before She Did This?

Not that I understand why Spice Girl Melanie Brown would want to do this to her own head, but why-oh-why would she do this to her beautiful little girls head???!!!

I understand that some little girls sometimes want to mirror their mommy's, but shouldn't the line be drawn somewhere? Say...shaving the sides of your daughter's sweet little head?

It seems that Mel B really likes this look on her daughter. Here she is at 2 years old...

And here with the mohawk straightened out...

It's a good thing that little Angel Iris is not of age just yet for picture day at school.

In Need of a New Camera

I really, really need {want? well, perhaps} a new camera. My current camera {a Canon PowerShot SD400, digital elph} gets me by but I'm really wanting something better - and inexpensive. I read great reviews about the Canon PowerShot SD1200 digital elph {seen below}. My husband has a mac-daddy, professional Nikon camera - and while it's awesome, it's quite bulky. I need a camera that I can carry in my purse that doesn't weigh what seems like 20 pounds. Do any of you own the below Canon camera? If so, do you like it?

I'm open to other recommendations as well so please share!

Paris Hilton's Dog House

Have you seen this?? Maybe I'm way behind but I recently found out that Paris Hilton had a 300 sq. ft, $325,000 dog house built for her pups Tinkerbell, Marilyn Monroe, Prince Baby Bear, Harajuku, Dolce and Prada.

The two floor dog house has a clay-tile roof with copper gutters, intricate ceiling molding and a crystal chandelier hanging in the bedroom complete with central air. The dogs even have a closet and a downstairs living room!

The pooch mansion sits behind her Beverly Hills home and is furnished with faux designer doggie products from Jimmy Chew, Pawda, Sniffany & Co. and Chewy Vuitton.

"It's a miniature version of my house," said the heiress to Life & Style. "I designed it with the help of my interior decorator, Faye Resnick. I wanted it to be fun, cute, comfortable and beautiful. My friends just love it and think it’s so adorable and cool."

“They love lying on the balcony, playing in their backyard and hanging out on their living room furniture. They appreciate the house that Mommy built for them,” she continued. "The dogs love to dress up. My friends say they have a better wardrobe than most people.”

I'm speechless. And I'm not sure it's in a good way.

Schick Intuition Plus Razor

After constantly seeing commercials for the Schick Intuition Plus razor I decided to buy one to see if I liked it.

The razor itself looked bulky and I wasn't sure if that would be a nuisance to me or not. But I gotta say...I really like this razor. It comes with a "holder" that suctions to your shower/tub{although I never use those holding cases}.
The blades are surrounded by a moisturizing solid made with shea butter, Vitamin E, and aloe and the built-in lather bar that ran smoothly over my skin that I couldn't even feel the actual razor.

As noted by Schick: Schick Intuition Plus lathers, shaves and moisturizes in one easy step so there is no need for shave gel, soap or body wash. Now with 4 blades, it will leave your skin noticeably softer! It is simple to use so Trust Your Intuition and try it! {Ha!}

Blade Refills:
The verdict is still out if I will love this razor for the long-term but for now I'm enjoying something new that seems to work great!
This is not a sponsored post. Just a new discovery that I wanted to share with you ladies!

Random Things That Kept Me Awake Last Night

When my husband's head hits the pillow for the night, he is out like a light. Me on the other hand...not so much. So many things swirl around in my head before I can even enter the "light sleep" zone. If even a fly comes in the room I wake up. If a bulldozer came in, my husband wouldn't even flinch.

So last night, these were the random things that I was thinking about before I eventually entered the sleeping realm:
  • Does Cindy Crawford really just use that one cream, that is now advertised on that infomercial, to make her skin look that great?
  • The chicken in the Chipotle burrito wasn't that spicy today - yet I have heart burn. Hhmm.
  • I need to go to Pottery Barn Kids this week.
  • It felt so good to completely clean out the room that will be the baby's nursery. We still need to tackle the left side of the garage and I need to get in our closet and get to organizing it.
  • I need to make a grocery list and scour the net for coupons.
  • Tomorrow I definitely need to fulfill that brownie sundae craving.
  • I need to call the Dr's office in the am and get a prescription refill.
  • I can't believe I have to return some of the clothes that I just bought for the winter. Oh well, that's what I get for not trying them on at the store.
  • The car needs to be serviced this week. We need to stop talking about it and actually do it.
  • The flu shot. Need to get one this week. The swine flu shot...still uneasy about getting that one.
  • I need to straighten my hair either tomorrow or Tuesday.
  • Kate Gosselin is going to be on The Today Show in the morning; I wonder if I will get up in time to watch her avoid questions that will ruffle her feathers.
  • I need to tidy up the downstairs rooms.
  • I need to remember to add some items to the baby registry.
  • Uhh...this heartbearn needs to go away.
  • Well hello precious little girl...what are you doing awake? {insert Ilah kicking}
  • Should I, or should I not, get a mobile to attach to Ilah's crib? Necessary or no?
  • What will I eat for breakfast?
So...I did wake up this morning in time to tune into The Today Show {which I usually watch in the a.m.} and caught Meredith Vierra's second part interview with Kate Gosselin - surprisingly, Kate opened up more than she ever has and gave lengthy answers rather than the usual predictable one liners. I don't really take sides on Jon and Kate's drama-filled life and how it has all played out in the media. Each of them has their shortcomings, just as they also have exceptional qualities about them {I'm sure}. In my opinion, these two have severely strayed away from their marriage covenant and lost focus of the many important things that "once was" to them. For instance, in their first few seasons, they often spoke about God, were filmed going to church and openly discussed in their interviews how Christ was the foundation of their home. It's so sad to see how their marriage has crumbled. While most media outlets give a tit-for-tat as to why that is, I ultimately believe that it's because they now each have their own set of priorities which doesn't include bringing Christ back into the center of their marriage. They have settled for a dissolve of their marriage rather than a proper rebuilding of it.

Granted, I don't "know" either party, nor the things that were privately going on in their home, but it still remains a disheartening situation for their children who are in the midst of the untangling of their parent's marriage and how each of them are going about handling it. I say Kate needs to unplug from the show, Jon needs to resign from his wild ways, and they each need to stop doing interviews in which they use the media as an outlet to insult one another and air their dirty laundry. They both need to begin to conduct themselves in a more civilized, respectful manner towards one another. We don't need to be kept up to date on their private marital affairs. Our lives will go on if we don't read late breaking news about Jon's latest uncanny actions, followed by Kate issuing a public statement about his latest outlandish behavior. We get it. These two are in the midst of bitter divorce. But I think it's long overdue for Jon and Kate to make a decision to handle their issues in a confidential manner and remember who they once were before all the media hype - two people who wanted the best for eachother and their family.
