The 'Utter' Mouth Pot or Vase by Thelermont Hupton.

These fun tabletop vessels are made of fine earthenware and measure 160mm x 100mm tall. The opening is that of a human mouth, compllte with parted lips and teeth.

In the words of the artist:
"The Utter pots, using the form of a mouth, are a literal manifestation of the concept of objects ‘talking’ to the user.

The finished piece is humorous and edgy. The parted lips of the female mouth may even be construed as sexual. They invite us to ponder what the rest of the ‘face’ might look like.

The Utter mouth pot is designed to be used decoratively or functionally as a vessel for flowers, pencils..."

Price: £39

Pharmacy Restaurant Ashtrays by Artist Damien Hirst Now Available.

Contemporary artist Damien Hirst tried his hand at the restaurant business in 1998 when he opened the art-filled Pharmacy Restaurant + Bar in London. Filled with pseudo-scientific pharmacy-themed items, Hirst curated every design element from metallic pill-printed wallpaper and pill-shaped ashtrays.

The gourmet restaurant featured fine dining and cocktails with names like "Cough Syrup" or "Voltarol Retarding Agent" served up by a waitstaff decked out in surgically inspired outfits designed by Prada.

The Pharmacy restaurant closed its doors in 2003. Sotheby's then auctioned off the contents after the restaurant closure, with bidding ranging from £1,920 for a pair of salt and pepper shakers to £1.2m for a giant mock medicine cabinet.

However, these ashtrays weren't included in the Pharmacy auction at Sothebys on October 18th 2004, so now they are available for purchase from Other Criteria.

Gorgeous interiors from some of my favorite blogs...

The one thing I miss about the days before I started blogging was that I actually had time to explore the blogs that I love and that inspired me to start blogging in the first place. Well, that's why I started regularly posting groups of images from my favorite blogs - so I get to visit my favorite sites, but still feel like I'm being productive.

In no particular order...

Below are finds from the always elegant Belle Vivir

this is a bathroom!

You can probably tell the 4 yummy images below are Scandinavian interiors, from the wonderfully Scandinavian themed Designpiration

I love this kitchen!!!  It's very rustic, but I think I could manage just fine...

Denmark's Anne Black Launches Her Ceramics & Jewelry In The U.S.

Copenhagen-based ceramist Anne Black graduated from Kolding School of Design in 1996 and was told to "go find a real job." Fifteen years later, she and her husband Jesper heads up a multi-million kroner enterprise with production facilities in Vietnam and a porcelain brand that's second only to Royal Copenhagen. Except Anne Black's contemporary and playful designs are entirely crafted by hand, using natural materials, and the company's approach is decidedly personal, fair trade and earth-friendly.

Now Denmark's top independent ceramic artist and designer, Anne Black has become a household brand name in Scandinavia and renowned across Europe. And so she is ready to take on the U.S.A.

With simple forms and delicate, understated graphical decorations, Anne Black creates unique and personal collections that are contemporary, yet classic, clean and distinctive. A product of the minimalist Scandinavian design tradition, the Anne Black collection includes jewelry, vases, cups, bowls, trays, knobs, and other home decor. Entirely manufactured by hand, using natural materials, each product reflects the designer’s respect for a classical material, porcelain, as well as an earth-friendly approach to production.
