Movin' on Up...And Ilah has a Doggy!

A few weeks ago we went for Ilah's 4 month Dr. visit. I was eager to know what her new height and weight was but was so not looking forward to Ilah getting round 2 of her immunizations. Just as with her first appointment, my stomach was in knots the night before, and the entire time leading up to the appointment, wondering how it would go.

I'm always unsure about wanting to stay in the room while they administered the shots - but so far I always do - I just don't look at the needles go in! Daddy get's up close to hold his baby girl's hand while I just peer over his shoulder {while inhaling and exhaling a lot!} to see her sweet face. And in true mommy nature, right after that last needle comes out, I go and scoop up my baby and hold her close. Just as Ilah did last time, she cried for only a few minutes and then all was well again. No lingering fussiness or irritability - and no fever - afterwards. Thank you Lord!

Ilah weighed in at 16 pounds, 14 ounces! And she is now 25 inches long. She is in the 96% percentile for her weight and in the 82 percentile for her height. What a growing girl!!

At that appointment a few weeks ago, Ilah's pediatrician suggested that we begin rice cereal {which we did} and then gradually move up to stage 1 baby food. We kept Ilah on the rice cereal for a few weeks to see how she would do and to also get her used to eating something new, and something from a spoon. She did so good!

I bought organic baby food from the Gerber line and separated the fruits from the vegetables and put them in two separate plastic containers....

I noticed I had bought more fruit and less veggies....

This past Saturday we introduced Ilah to Banana's! We're giving her one type of fruit or veggie consistantly for 3 days in a row to be sure that she takes well to it and isn't allergic in any way.

Ilah ate just a little bit. But it was plenty since she is a beginner: )

Look at those freshly awake eyes! Ilah had just woken up from her morning nap....
Encouraging Ilah to give banana's a try, and wishing that she could have a few licks, was Ilah's new doggy....{you didn't think that we bought her a real dog did you!? Ha! No way!}. My husband named Ilah's pink little puppy Rufea {roo-fee-a}. He said if it was a boy it would have been named Rufus, but since it's a girl dog, it's Rufea!
In no time, Ilah was wanting more and more of those banana's! She began grabbing the spoon from Daddy's hand and putting it in her own mouth! Yep...we love to eat around here! ha!

We're gonna have to begin teaching Ilah table manners here soon! So no feet on the table sweet girl! Ha!

After a few bites of banana's we move onto giving Ilah her bottle, which she has been holding herself for several months now {we leave our hand positioned under it should it fall, but man she grips that bottle as if it's the very last one she's ever going to have!}.....

After our mid-morning feeding, we moved on to playing with Rufea.....
Ilah sure does love her doggy....

Even when she moves on from playing with Rufea and gets interested in another toy.....

It's not too long before she comes back to cuddle with her doggy!....
