THIMPHU: The conference of interior ministers of SAARC countries has started here Saturday, Geo News reported. While presiding over the inaugural meeting of the SAARC conference, Interior Minister Rehman Malik said during the last ten years 7,485 attacks had taken place in Pakistan and over 35,000 lives had been lost. He stressed that SAARC should form a task force similar to Interpol to deal with the issue of pirates. Indian Interior Minister, P Chidambaram, Senior Minister of Sri Lanka A.H Fouzi and Interior Minister of Maldives Hasan Mazboot also reached Bhutan simultaneously to attend the conference. On his way to Bhutan, Interior Minister had briefly stayed in New Delhi where P Chidambaram and High Commissioner of Pakistan received him. During the conference, issues of mutual interests including human trafficking, drugs control and immigration laws will be discussed. |
