Back From Mexico!

Last Sunday we left for Playa Del Carmen {in the Riviera Maya in Mexico} and spent all last week enjoying paradise!! The resort we stayed at was absolutely AMAZING and we did exactly what we intended to do...we did nothing but relax!! The weather was perfect - in the upper 70's and as it turned out, we were there just at the right time...there was a hurricane warning issued the week before we arrived, and this week it will be storming.

I won't overload you with the hundreds of pictures that we took, but here are some that give you a glimpse into what our vacation was like! : )

The grounds are so lavish, and impeccably maintained. The place deserves every one of the five stars that they have. During the day we enjoyed laying by the pools, sipping tropical drinks, walking along the beach, eating lunch at a new spot {or ordering room service in} - and even visited the gym....once ; ) Ha! In the evenings we dined at their fabulous restaurants, took in evening walks and watched a few movies after retiring to our room for the evening.

We booked a suite that was incredibly spacious, and located in a building in a prime location!

The pools....there are so many of them!! And each one is so pristine, with swim up bars, poolside cabanas, and if you wanted to participate...fun pool activities {volleyball, swim aerobics, etc.}.

Every morning we were up at 7 am - probably because we took leisurely naps during the day and usually turned in for the night after enjoying a wonderful dinner out. The resort has a spa, a gym, tennis courts, a golf course, several fine dining restaurants as well as casual eateries, a few late night bars {one with dancing!} - and much more. You can do a lot there! Or nothing there. Your choice : )

We went to the pool everyday and enjoyed poolside drink service {especially during happy hour where drinks were half price} ; )

The one thing that I absolutely miss about California is the beaches. I lived just a few miles from one growing up. The nearest one to me now is almost five hours away. When I saw the ocean, a huge smile came across my face. Ah, serenity!

Our mornings always started with a visit to the Del Lago restaurant for their gourmet breakfast {that was absolutely amazing!}. We devoured a good amount of food there over the several days that we were at this resort!

Freshly made empanadas!!!! They were sooooo good!!!!

During one of our afternoon walks, we came across the spot where they house crocodiles. Yes, crocodiles. Here are the babies....

Right next to their HUGE parents!!....

We also visited the Flamingos!....

I'm telling you....this resort was AMAZING!!!

Yummy California rolls!....

While we were away, there was one little girl always on our mind....

Dinner at The Tramonto {Italian restaurant} was divine!....

Our last night there, we went to a big Mexican party at the Del Lago! They handed out these hats as guests made their way in....

The food set up was amazing. I took a lot but here's a few....

The mojitos in Mexico....Oh my Gaaaaaa!!!!!.....

My honey upgraded us to business class for the flight home. I gotta say....those seats are so big and plush and the attention you get is superb ; ) Gonna be hard to go back to flying coach! Lol!

Away we went back home - back to the sweet girl that we missed so much. This was the first time that we were both away from her and she did so good for my mom who watched her.

As it turned out, we spent half of 11-11-11 in Mexico, and the latter half back home. I'd say it was a wonderful date to remember!
