Ilah, 6 Months Old

Ilah, I cannot believe that you are now 6 months old. I still feel like you are a fresh baby that was just placed in my arms. You are growing and learning and evolving so quickly. To say that I can't get enough of you is an understatement. Just about every night when you are asleep, I will turn to daddy and tell him that I miss you - even though you're just asleep in the next room. I can't wait for the next day to roll around so that I can love on you and spend lots of hours interacting and playing with you! You fill my days with so much joy!

So what are you up to at 6 months?!.....

  • Yesterday you had your 6 month check-up. You now weigh {{{drum roll}}}….20 pounds! And you are 27 inches tall!

  • You’re still wearing size 2-3 diaper {love that Pampers makes an in-between size} and a size 3 diaper at night {Pampers Baby Dry}.

  • You still wear 6-9 month clothes.
  • Your two bottom teeth have come in. Teething is no fun - for you...or us. We hate knowing you are in pain, but it will pass. We have no problem spending more time holding you close.
  • You have an obsession with wanting to touch our toes when you are playing on the floor. No matter how many toys you have around you, all that interests you is skooting towards our toes so you can touch them! You even love playing with your own cute little toes.
  • You are still a wonderful sleeper! Praise the Lord! Down at 8:30 p.m…..up at 7:30 a.m.
  • When you see people that you are unfamiliar with, you take a while to examine them. You don't like to be held by people that you don't regularly see.
  • Your hair has grown so much!...
  • You want to take a hold of whatever mommy or daddy has in their hands.

  • You put everything in your mouth!
  • I dont think you mind taking pictures at all! I will call the below caption, "Mother, if I'm going to have to sit here for too much longer, I'm going to have to ask you to place $5 in my piggy bank upstairs. Going forward, this is my minute-by-minute rate. No exceptions".
  • You get a kick out of mommy whistling or when I make barking sounds when we’re playing with your stuffed doggy, Rufea.

  • If you want something, you reach for it….
  • When it’s time to eat – and you see your food and bottle – you get so anxious to get that food in your mouth!
  • If you’re upset about something, your facial expressions definitely let us know!

  • You now eat oatmeal, applesauce, and a variety of fruits and vegetables. So far, there is nothing that you haven’t liked. Sometimes when we are feeding you, you try to take the spoon and feed yourself! You’ve entered into stage 2 foods – which now includes yogurt, which you have yet to try but I purchased it over the weekend. Also, we just bought you some little “country dinners” from the Earths Best line to see how you like it. I also bought you some sippy cups over the weekend and will be introducing you to water.
  • So far, you arent a messy eater. I'm sure that will change in a few months!
  • You hold your bottle all on your own during your feedings.
  • You are beginning the stage of purposely dropping things on the floor. You have us picking up things like crazy!
  • You moved up to 6 month pacifers.
  • You love when mommy and daddy play with you, but you are also independent and can entertain yourself for a short while if mommy needs to do quick things around the house. I just lowered your playpen this week since I started to notice that you were forming a habit of putting your two hands on the side of your playpen and bouncing while sitting on your bottom. No leaping over for you! You are now at the bottom!
  • You smile, laugh, babble, make raspberries, squeal, scream, and make LOTS of sounds.

  • Mommy has noticed that when you’re playing, of you don’t achieve something on the first attempt, you try and try again – you don’t give up! That's our girl!!
  • When you’re laying down and you’ve had enough of it, you try and pull yourself up. You’re not at the point yet where you can get up all by yourself, so mommy and daddy help you.
  • Last month you mastered sitting up all on your own and we just know that it wont be long when you are going to start crawling. You skoot all over the place when you are playing on the floor. You now get up on your knees and rock back and forth. In no time, you’re going to be taking off!
  • You still love bath time and have started to splash the water and grasp onto your bath toys.
  • You are so easy to take out. You never, ever fuss. You just kick back in your stroller and take in the new surrounding that you’re in.
Ilah, we love you more than words can say. We thank God for blessing our life with the miracle of you.
